July Spotlight - A Different Kind of Safari in Botswana
A Different Kind of Safari in Botswana
Many safaris move between different camps or lodges, with each one becoming your base for exploring that part of the wilderness.
A mobile tented safari works a little differently.
With Letaka Safaris in Botswana, the camp becomes part of the journey. Rather than returning each day to a fixed lodge, the experience stays closely connected to the landscapes, wildlife movement, and wild places you have come to see.
Many safari camps are wonderfully connected to their surroundings, but a mobile tented safari brings a different kind of closeness. With Letaka, the camp moves with the journey, keeping the experience closely tied to the wildlife, landscapes, and changing character of Botswana. It is still comfortable and thoughtfully run, but the focus is on the guiding, the wildlife, the landscapes, and the feeling of being properly immersed in Botswana.

That is what first caught my attention.
Letaka offers a style of safari that feels wonderfully direct. Days are spent out in some of Botswana’s most remarkable wildlife areas, travelling with expert guides who know how to read the land, follow tracks, understand animal behaviour, and bring the whole experience to life.

Camp is simple, but not careless. It is part of the experience — meals under the sky, early starts, bucket showers, evenings around the fire, and the chance to properly switch off for a while.
This will not be the right safari for everyone, and I actually think that is important to say.
If you are looking for a lodge with a spa, a plunge pool, Wi-Fi, and all the extras, this is probably not the one. But if you are drawn to exceptional guiding, wild places, conservation, camp life, and the idea of seeing Botswana in a more immersive way, then Letaka is very much worth knowing about.
I am currently working with Letaka on space for a small Travel Like Jenny hosted group in late April 2027, following their Northern Highlights mobile safari from Maun to Kasane.
The itinerary is in place, and I have chosen this as my Journey of the Month because it feels like the kind of experience that will speak to the right person — adventurous, thoughtful, and closely connected to the places we will be travelling through.
It is not a safari for everyone, but for those who are drawn to wild places, expert guiding, and a more immersive way of experiencing Botswana, it is one I am genuinely excited to share.
Because sometimes the most memorable kind of luxury is not about having more around you.
Sometimes it is about feeling closer to where you are.
