Africa, the TLJ Way
Africa, the TLJ Way
Africa has a way of getting under your skin and staying there.
For me, it wasn’t a bucket-list destination. My first journey was escorting a women’s group, and from the moment I arrived, something shifted. The wildlife, the people, the scale of the landscapes, the way life unfolds day by day — it grounded me in a way few places ever have.
I’ve now been to Africa five times, and every visit feels completely different. There is no “right” time to go and no such thing as seeing it all. Each journey brings new moments, new lessons, and new reasons to return. It’s one of the few places in the world where you feel truly present — connected to nature, to people, and to yourself.
The TLJ Africa Experience
No two days on safari are ever the same — and that’s what makes Africa so special.
Some days are quiet and reflective, spent watching wildlife from a distance or sitting still as life unfolds around you. Other days bring moments you could never plan for — an elephant appearing outside your room, a cheetah leaping onto a vehicle, or walking silently as animals move through the landscape nearby.
When I travel in Africa, I’m fully engaged. I’m constantly talking with guides, learning from them, and adjusting plans based on what’s happening in real time. That energy carries through to my clients. Curiosity builds, excitement grows, and before long, everyone is completely immersed in the experience.
I’ve watched groups bond over unexpected interests — even birding — and heard clients say, after years of travel, that Africa was one of the most meaningful journeys they’ve ever taken. Safari isn’t about rushing from sighting to sighting. It’s about slowing down, paying attention, and letting the experience come to you.
Where I Take You in Africa
I don’t try to cover every corner of Africa. I focus on the places I know well, love deeply, and believe offer the most rewarding experiences for my clients.
Tanzania
Tanzania is where my heart always pulls me back. The wildlife is extraordinary, the landscapes vast, and the sense of space unlike anywhere else I’ve travelled. From the Great Migration and river crossings to the Ngorongoro Crater and quieter moments on the plains, Tanzania delivers something different every single time.
Uganda & Rwanda
Journeys to Uganda and Rwanda are powerful and deeply moving. I have personally experienced gorilla trekking in Uganda, including both the traditional trek and the habituation experience. Uganda feels raw and adventurous, while Rwanda offers a more structured and refined experience with a strong conservation focus.
Kenya (Select Experiences)
Kenya holds specific experiences I love weaving in thoughtfully — such as visits to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and the Karen Blixen Museum.
Botswana (Coming Soon)
Botswana represents wilderness at its most remote and immersive, and I look forward to sharing it with clients when the time is right.
The People Behind the Experience
A safari is only as good as the people who look after you — and the local partners I work with in Africa are exceptional.
They live and work on the ground and understand the land, wildlife, and rhythm of each destination. Their guides are patient, intuitive, and incredibly knowledgeable, with safety, conservation, and care always front of mind.
Because these teams are right there in destination, my clients are never alone. There is always someone nearby who knows what’s happening and how to respond if plans change.
The TLJ Touch
I love adding personal touches — small surprises chosen with care and intention.
These moments are shaped around the people travelling, their interests, and what will resonate with them personally. They’re thoughtful experiences designed to enhance the journey and create memories that feel truly personal.
A Warm Invitation
Africa has a way of changing people.
If it’s been calling you — whether loudly or quietly — I would love to help you experience it the Travel Like Jenny way.
